Okay, so I’ve been lagging a bit on keeping track of the number of bags we manage to save here at the ‘Source. For those of you that may not know, we offer 5¢ for every small bag (produce bags, etc.) and & 10¢ for every large bag (grocery bags, reusable cloth bags, etc.) that you guys bring from home to pack your groceries in. We’ve also recently instituted a new program that allows you the option of donation your bag refunds to support worthy local causes.

I finally got around to tallying up the number of bag refunds we gave last year and…WOW!

Here’s the rundown on a monthly basis:

  1. Jan ’10: 9,992
  2. Feb ’10: 9,559
  3. Mar ’10: 10,695
  4. Apr ’10: 10,449
  5. May ’10: 10,829
  6. June ’10: 9,597
  7. July ’10: 9,322
  8. Aug ’10: 10,762
  9. Sept ’10: 9,410
  10. Oct ’10: 10,517
  11. Nov ’10: 8,369
  12. Dec ’10: 9,474

We’re keeping up that pace this year, too. So far we’ve saved 10,265 bags in January and 9793 in February. Great job! Thanks for helping us shrink our footprint and make a genuinely positive impact on the environment!

You rock!
