Did you know that April is Earth Month? What better way to celebrate than by lessening your environmental impacts through choosing locally made products! We’ve got a great selection of products from close to home, especially in our cheese department. We’ve got two new, amazing choices, one from Madras and the other from Logsden, Oregon.
Meet Hannah, a raw milk cheese from Ancient Heritage Dairy located in Madras, Oregon. Hannah is a sheep and cow cheese blended to create a nutty, creamy, caramel goodness you’re sure to enjoy.
Also new in our cheese case is the Sunset Bay chevre from Rivers Edge Dairy. This award-winning goat cheese has a layer of smoked paprika running through its center adding a savory warmth to the creamy tang of the chevre.
We’ll be celebrating Earth Month with some amazing deals on local cheese. Stop by and check out our selections from local dairies. Then on the 20th of this month we’ll be doing a tasting of some our favorites!
Check out Garry’s Meadow Fresh milk in our dairy case from Lady-Lane Farm in Mulino, Oregon. Lady-Lane Farm is a small, traditional dairy that produces milk from Jersey cows. The Jersey is known as the “queen of quality” in the dairy industry because of it’s superior taste. Jersey cows are also the smallest of all dairy breeds which equals less impact on the environment! Compared to conventional milk, Jersey milk is higher in calcium, protein and nonfat milk solids which enhances the product’s creamy texture and taste. Garry’s Meadow Fresh milk is vat pasteurized and non-homogenized to maintain its original nutritional qualities. Come taste the difference!

We are excited to announce the addition of Raw Goats Milk from Fern’s Edge Dairy in Lowell!
Here’s a bit about them from the front page of their site:
Fern’s Edge Goat Dairy is a farmstead artisan cheese facility “staffed” by the long-established and award-winning Mt Zion Dairy Goat herd.
Our farm and dairy are nestled at the base of Mt. Zion in the Cascade foothills overlooking beautiful Dexter Lake. We are committed to creating nourishing dairy products that are handmade in small batches, uniquely crafted and locally produced — ensuring quality, freshness and a wonderful taste.
Fern’s Edge uses all organic practices and certified feeds as well as biodynamic methods in managing our animals and in working the land as we strive to foster sustainability and enhance our daily rhythm with the Earth.
Our first cheese offerings are an array of fresh-flavored soft cheeses seasoned with our own farm-raised herbs or off-farm organic ingredients and wild-crafted edibles. We are also working on some raw milk aged cheeses as well as some bloomy and mold-ripened varieties that will be available soon.
We’re pleased to be offering such a high quality local product! Look for us to be bringing in their cheese soon as well!
