Altualfo? What is it? What do you do with it? And most importantly, how do you pronounce it?
The altualfo (aht-ah-uhl-foe) is a variety of mango. A sweet, buttery, mango with a robust flavor. They turn a golden yellow color when they are ripe and should be soft to the touch and even slightly wrinkly. You can use these sweet, little treasures just like you would a regular mango. Try them in your smoothie, cook them in a dessert or just slice and eat them! They have a smaller pit than their counterparts, so keep that in mind when cutting into it. If you’ve never tried altualfo mangos, it’s a great time since they are on sale for only $ .99 each until April 11th!
