Events

LifeSource generally keeps a pretty full schedule on our Outreach and Events calendar.

We have all kinds of things going on, from in-store product sampling to demonstrations and information booths at events organized by the community. Your patronage of LifeSource allows us to offer our Community Room for food, community and wellness events sponsored by other organizations or individuals. A minimal fee or store purchase may be required to help fund the room.

On this page you’ll find a calendar of upcoming events. You can also subscribe to our blog by email or RSS reader and keep up to date that way. We’ll post all our upcoming events to the front page of our website so you can view them in one convenient place!

SPRING FOREST QIGONG HEALING PRACTICE INTRODUCTION

Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Location:  LifeSource Community Room- 2661 Commercial St. SE, Salem, OR  97302

Spring Forest Qigong is a powerful, but simple healing practice.  You are invited to join in this 2-hour introductory class.  Spring Forest Qigong has made a profound, positive impact in the lives of many people.  The facilitator, Emily Wieczorek, has experienced wonderful benefits over the last ten years.  She is now sharing this amazing practice with the Salem Community. You will learn:

  • an “active” exercise (which can be done sitting down)
  • a sitting meditation
  • a healing practice.

These are all simple, but effective practices which help in all areas of your life. Any questions, please email Emily at ejw444@gmail.com.  Suggested donation is $10, but please attend regardless of your donation.  No special clothing is required and you can sit for the entire practice if that is needed.

The Community Room is located in the shopping mall just south of the LifeSource Natural Food store. Turn south from the store entrance, cross Culver Lane S and enter the main entrance to the mall which is just past the third business (between Salon Redd and State Farm).  Straight ahead you will see the entrance to the LifeSource Community Room.

Wellcome Images images@wellcome.ac.uk http://wellcomeimages.org Xiuzhen miyao, a gymnastic (daoyin/qigong) text of unknown origin, was rediscovered and published with a preface by Wang Zai in 1513 (8th year of the Zhengde reign period of the Ming dynasty). It records 49 exercises. This illustration depicts a technique used for freeing the flow in renmai (the Director Vessel, often translated as Conception Vessel). It is practised as follows: Sitting upright and cross-legged, one places one hands on the acu-moxa loxations at each side of the chest. One does this nine times and circulates Qi for 14 breaths.
